Not Your Typical Day

Noon is my time to soar and rise

I open my wings and shake my tail

I search the directions of the wind

My shackles leave me be

And for now I am what I am.

Wash this face, wash those hands, and wash those feet

Don’t forget to wash your heart especially the corners

You don’t want any vermin to sit there and make eggs

Make your bed and smooth out the wrinkles

It’s 6:00 am and this is your day.

Hide your wings, cover your mouth and turn the lights off

Don’t forget to close the door behind you with the lock

You don’t want strangers to come in and go like they want

Make dinner and put the house to sleep

It’s 6:00 pm and this is the end.
