Asleep

I live my life always asleep

Eyes wide open but absent

Because once bitten, twice warned

And I’m not the type to tempt fate

So asleep I talk, walk, work and make love

And now the world congratulates me on my performance

And that makes me dizzy to have the world at my feet

But it seems that once I stop killing myself slowly

My wishes line up at my door knocking

And God knows how much I cried and swore against my fate

But the past like myself is asleep for the moment

I will pick up my worries once I wake up

P.S. This is a translation of the earlier poem I wrote in French.
